Pokémon Marathon (December 2008) is the 8th marathon ran by TheSpeedGamers and the 5th ran for a charity. While the goal of catching all 491 known Pokémon was not met, a great effort was put out.
During the marathon, the Pokemon Ruby cartridge save file corrupted, causing all data to be lost.
At the end of the marathon, all Pokémon were transferred to a Pokémon Diamond cartridge and was given away in a drawing. The Pokémon Colosseum Japanese Bonus Disk to be used to get Celebi was sent by Chuggaaconroy; it broke in the mail and unable to be used. Due to time limitations, Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia was not used to get Darkrai. Instead, Chuggaaconroy's Japanese Pokémon Platinum Version with the Darkrai New Moon Island event was used. The Deoxys used was from the Gamestop Deoxys event.

Notes
*During the marathon, a gamer found, and luckily caught, a shiny Rhyhorn while traveling through the Safari Zone. This, by far, is the only shiny Pokemon known to be found while a Pokemon Marathon is going.
*A special Gamecube Disc was going to be given out as a prize, that contained a Shiny-colored Zigagoon for Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. However, due to the disc getting broke, the prize was recalled for giving it to anybody eligible.
